INDA and Heifer International

            We are currently working with the INDA group (an African based

organization promoting self reliance amongst the people) and Heifer

International to bring a sustainable food source to the people of Kenya. The

goal is to be able to provide a livestock animal to a family and have the

produce and offspring shared with the rest of the village. This is an ongoing

project that is also being supported by the children of the congregation

through monthly “noise offerings” (donations of loose change dropped into

metal pails by congregants during service). For more information on Heifer

The latest news from INDA and John Obingo as of 10/12/09:

INDA's certificate needs to be renewed with the government as soon as possible.  Two reps from Heifer have interviewed 31 INDA members in Maseno. One (1) family unit counts as one member per Heifer reps.  Urban members in Nairobi are not counted by Heifer for this project. As of 10-12-09, John Obingo awaits further Heifer action post-interviews.  John noted that he received a phone call (10/8) from a member of Parliament and John was able to update the man on the progress of the Project application to date.
